Job Description:

Cairns Adventure Group are seeking dynamic and qualified Driver Guide's to join our team and be the heart of our immersive tours across the Tropical North QLD in some of the most stunning places on Earth.


As a Driver Guide, you will provide informative and entertaining commentary, ensuring our guests have a safe, fun and educational journey.


You will be guiding tourists through some of the most stunning landscapes in Australia, sharing fascinating insights about the natural wonders, landmarks, and cultural heritage of the region.


Essential Requirements for the role:

  • A current Queensland Driver Authorisation
  • At minimum, a valid Light Rigid (LR) License - High Rigid (HR) License favourable!
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Positive attitude & great sense of humour
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to speak to groups
  • Great Knowledge of the Far North Qld region
  • Ensuring a safeenjoyable, and comfortable experience for all passengers
  • The ability to work weekdays and weekends as required


Your typical day as a Rainforest Guide could look like this:

  • Cape Tribulation tour (7am–7:30pm) through Daintree, Mossman and surrounds, or
  • Waterfalls tour (7am–6/7pm), or
  • Cape Tribulation pickup and drop off guests for overnight stay (7am-3pm)


Operational Performance:

  • Carry out bus checks prior to each departure.
  • Conduct guided bus tours, ensuring the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of passengers.
  • Provide informative and engaging commentary about the history, culture, and significance of landmarks and attractions along the tour route.
  • Interact with guests in a courteous and friendly manner, answering questions, and addressing concerns. Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the bus.
  • Handle customer questions, concerns and/or complaints in a calm, empathetic manner, ensuring to escalate any complaints as per standard procedure, as required.
  • Keep the tour on schedule and provide timely updates on estimated arrival times at each stop.
  • Be well-versed in the tour route, landmarks, and interesting facts about the area.
  • Use public speaking skills to capture the attention and interest of passengers, maintaining their engagement throughout the tour.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the bus, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Promote additional services, merchandise, or future tours to passengers.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of troubleshooting and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with meal arrangements where required, including serving a basic morning/ afternoon tea.
  • Any other tasks / tour routes reasonably requested by the Operations Manager and/or General Manager.

  • Complete all pre and post-trip paperwork as required.
  • Maintain radio contact with the Office throughout the day as specified locations.

        Upgrade your Licence to a Light or Medium Rigid Licence - QLD Government

        Driver’s Authorisation (for commercial passenger transport in Queensland)


What We Offer
